This study included a group that had periodontal disease and an identical size group which did not. In accordance with the results of the study, dogs with gum disease have a higher rate of a particular type heart disease.

This was particularly true in the case of heart valve inflammation (endocarditis). Endocarditis was found in only .01 percent of dogs that didn’t suffer from gum disease and in .15 percent of dogs that had stage 3 periodontal disease.

So, you see it’s critical to have a good canine dental plan so as to keep your pet happy and healthy.

So, just how do you give good dental care to your dog?
