Some dogs love chewing the furniture. The reason can be that he just likes chewing things. You can stop him from doing so. You can buy some good chewing toys that will catch the interest of your puppy and not make him feel bored.

You can paint some objects with foul tasting substances. This will prevent your dog to stop chewing that thing. Such substances are available at pet stores. The Aversion therapy is also very helpful in such cases.

Obedience training is an important part of dog training. You should not have long sessions in which he gets bored. Using violence will not help at all. You should also adopt simpler commands for dogs.
