Dogs are instinctively born to eat a diet of raw meat just like their mammal cousin the wolf. In the dog food industry it’s known as a BARF diet or bones and raw food diet. The dog’s earliest ancestors were capable predators.

Just suppose releasing your dog into the wild. His hunting and predatory instinct would kick in and he would hunt, kill and eat in order to survive.

Some animal researchers would assert that this is how dogs were designed to eat. Today’s dogs are domesticated and their masters may not always be fully aware of their pets true dietary needs. A dog’s daily food intake should include something more than just dry or canned dog food, but it should include raw meat and vegetables.

A raw diet consisting of raw meat provides your dog with the essential nutrition he needs to stay healthy. If your dog consistently ate a diet of raw meat rather than over processed or over cooked foods, then his immune and digestive systems would become significantly healthier.

There will be be a noticeable increase in the quality of your dog’s general health including his: skin, coat, breath, eyes, and teeth and gums. Also, your dog will be noticeably more energetic and develop a happier disposition.

Animal researchers are discovering an emergence of diseases and other serious medical conditions manifesting in dogs and cats that have not been seen in a long time. Some believe that it could be the lack of essential nutrition that a raw food diet could be providing your pet.

Many dog owners feel their pets are okay eating a diet of over processed dry and canned pet foods. In reality, although your dog maybe getting enough to eat, he/she maybe starving for nutrition because they are not getting the proper foods.

Many dog owners are cautious about giving their dog or cat raw meat. There is a preconceived idea that raw meat may have parasites and/or bacteria. Consider this, parasites and bacteria do not adversely affect animals in the same way they affect humans; thus one should at least consider researching the topic before overlooking the option of providing your pet a raw food diet.

Most owners want their pets to be the healthiest they can be. In that case, consider providing a variety of foods your dog would typically consume in the wild. Preparation is really not that hard to do – just make sure to provide your dog a selection of raw meat and vegetables every day. There are many recipes you can find if you’re willing to do some additional research on BARF dog food diets.

Dog Breeding Stand – Shall You Use It?

Experimenting with dog breeding and dog grooming with the hope of getting dogs or dog breeds with a better physical condition or qualities is not something new. Breeding however becomes a problem when the female is unwilling to let a male dog mount her for various reasons. If dog owners are very eager to get puppies things like dog breeding stands are used in these types of situations.

Most of you are probably aware of the huge raging debate that still continues concerning the ethical aspects of the dog breeding stand. Critics believe that the use of device is cruel and their attitude is revealed by the fact that they call these devices ‘rape stands’. There are of course those people with opposing views who state that the dog breeding stand is absolutely moral and defends the use of the device. To come to the correct conclusion is not an easy task but perhaps it’s best to see the device as a tool in the hands of the dog’s owner and whether it’s good or bad depends on the motives and actions of the owner.

What critics of the dog breeding stand say is that the device is usually used for the breeding of fighting dogs because dogs which have been taught to fight all their lives could tear each other to bits when trying to breed naturally so the female is attached to the dog breeding stand so that the whole process may be completed in a safe manner. The device allows the male to mount her safely as she cannot turn back to bite the male. These critics also argue that this method is used to get puppies early before the female is ready to mate or before she hasn’t reached the right time in her ‘heat cycle.’

However those who support the use of the dog breeding stand argue that it’s one method to assure the safety of both the male and the female when the dogs in question are simply too fierce. They also say that when it comes to breeding between dogs that are quite different in height the dog breeding stand is a suitable option. This group also points out that the female might lie down if she gets tired while breeding which makes the breeding process complicated. They believe the use of a dog breeding stand is acceptable in such a case.

Options like artificial insemination are open to those dog owners who are not willing to use the breeding stand in the case of an unwilling female and advice should be sought from a breeding expert in such a case.                        Â
